Thrust Areas of the Department
The departmental research is broadly segregated into three Centres as below:
  • Catalysis
  • Synthetic Chemistry
  • Supramolecular and Materials Chemistry
  • Interdisciplinary Research and Innovative Technologies
Catalysis

Catalysis research focuses on designing more efficient and selective catalysts using both experimental and computational methods. Key objectives include improving energy efficiency, reducing environmental waste, and enabling new chemical transformations. Efforts are directed toward optimizing catalytic performance, stability, and scalability. Key areas of study include homogeneous catalysis (nano - catalyst and reactants in the same phase), heterogeneous catalysis (nano - catalyst in a different phase, often a solid), and biocatalysis (using enzymes or other biological molecules). These approaches support sustainable chemistry and innovation across industrial and pharmaceutical sectors.
