Biography

Dr. Ekta Srivastava is currently an Assistant Professor Grade II at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Noida. She has previously worked at Jaypee University Anoopshahr, Galgotias University, and several engineering colleges in Delhi NCR and Uttar Pradesh. She has over 19 years of experience in higher education, specializing in English Literature and Communication. She holds a D.Phil in English from the University of Allahabad, where she completed her doctoral research on “Feminine Sensibility in the Works of Anita Desai.” Her academic foundation includes an M.A. and B.A. in English Literature, both secured with First Division from the same university. She has created and instructed a wide variety of courses, such as English, Professional Communication, Business Communication, Introduction to Literature, Literature & Adaptation and Soft Skills. National and international publications on feminist literature, diaspora studies, and narrative intersections in literature and adaptation are among her scholarly accomplishments. She has co-edited a special issue of the peer-reviewed journal Re-Markings, organized an international conference on Translation Studies, and given presentations at conferences in India and abroad. She has also been involved in various administrative duties as Language Lab Coordinator and Secretary of the Internal Complaints Committee. She has led the Student Literary Club, planned faculty development programs, and conducted workshops on gender sensitization. She is a dedicated teacher and scholar who looks forward to motivating peers and students with her love of literature, communication studies and innovative pedagogies.

Research Highlights

Dr. Ekta Srivastava’s research journey spans feminist literary criticism, postcolonial narratives, and cultural adaptation grounded in her doctoral study on “Feminine Sensibility in the Works of Anita Desai”. Her research interests include feminist literary criticism, postcolonial narratives, and cultural adaptation. Her work has been published in prestigious journals like Rupkatha and Re-Markings. She has studied the subaltern and diasporic aspects of Kiran Desai's The Inheritance of Loss, as well as the retelling of mythological female voices in Margaret Atwood's The Penelopiad and Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni's The Palace of Illusions. Her academic writings focus on modern cultural reinterpretations and narrative hybridity. Dr. Srivastava is currently supervising two PhD scholars in the department of Humanities & Social Sciences. Analysis of the narrative identity, voice, and social positioning of differently-abled people through autobiographical writing is one of the ongoing PHD in Disability Studies, with a focus on Divyang autobiographies. She has co-edited a special issue of Re-Markings, a biannual refereed international journal of English Letters, Special Number, Vol. 17 No.2, India – Diversities and Convergences: Contemporary Insights, presented her work at national and international conferences, and actively investigates the intersection of literature, visual studies, and cinema. She has a keen interest in communication studies as well and has presented a paper on “Communication between Students with Different Cultural Backgrounds: A Case Study of Galgotias University” at ICLC 2013 Conference “Innovative Inquiries and Emerging Paradigms in Language, Media and Communication" at NIDA, Bangkok, Thailand.
