Biography

Dr. Narinder Kaur joined the Department of Physics and Materials Science and Engineering at JIIT Noida as an Assistant Professor in August 2024. She holds an M.Sc. in Physics (2007) from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and an MTech. in Engineering Physics (2012) from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. She earned her Ph.D. in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in (2023). With over nine years of teaching experience, Dr. Kaur has served in various academic institutions, including WCTM Gurgaon, ACEM Faridabad, and KIET Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad. Her academic interests span across applied physics and materials science, and she is committed to excellence in teaching and research.

Research Highlights
  1. Synthesis and Characterization of 2D Materials: Extensive research in the fabrication and analysis of two-dimensional (2D) materials and their heterostructures for advanced energy applications.
  2. 2D-3D Heterojunctions for Hydrogen Production: Developed efficient 2D-3D heterojunction thin films based on In₂S₃, WO₃, and ZnO, achieving enhanced photoresponse across the entire UV-Visible spectrum.
  3. Photoelectrochemical (PEC) Water Splitting: Specialized in PEC water splitting for sustainable hydrogen generation, focusing on material interface engineering to improve light absorption and charge separation.
  4. Photodetectors: Designed and characterized optoelectronic devices with improved sensitivity and broadband detection using engineered thin-film materials.
  5. Thermoelectric and Gas Sensing Materials: Experience in the development and performance evaluation of materials for thermoelectric energy conversion and gas sensing applications.
