Biography

Dr. Himanshi Lohmore is a dedicated Assistant Professor at Jaypee Institute of Noida, contributing to the Humanities and Social Science department with her expertise in Political Science and International relations. She is passionate about utilizing her research and teaching skills to empower students and foster their academic growth.

Dr. Lohmore as an emerging scholar, specializes in ethno-nationalism and religious extremism in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), with a strong foundation in Political Science and Inner Asian Studies. She completed her Ph.D. at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), where her research examined the historical and political developments shaping ethnic and religious dynamics in Xinjiang from 1949 to 2019. Her M.Phil. work focused on the rise of religious extremism in the post-Cold War period, providing nuanced insights into the geopolitical shifts impacting the region. Her academic foundation is strengthened by Master degree in Political science and Bachelor degree in Political science (honors), both from Delhi University.

Dr. Himanshi Lohmore’s research primarily focuses on the complex interplay of ethno-nationalism and religious extremism in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) from 1949 to 2019. Her Ph.D. thesis provides a detailed historical and political analysis of the region, exploring how ethnic identity and religious dynamics have influenced social unrest and policy responses under Chinese governance. This work is grounded in a nuanced understanding of Xinjiang’s geopolitical significance and its impact on broader Central Asian stability.

Her M.Phil. dissertation investigates the rise of religious extremism in Xinjiang in the post-Cold War period, highlighting shifts in regional politics and the international factors shaping the environment of conflict. Dr. Lohmore’s research bridges political science and international relations, contributing critical insights into a region often underrepresented in mainstream scholarship.
