Biography

Dr. Nibha Sinha is currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida, since July 2023. With over 25 years of experience as a media educator, researcher, and journalist, she is a distinguished scholar in health communication and media studies.

An alumna of Patna Women’s College (Patna University) and the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Delhi, Dr. Sinha completed her Ph.D. on “Social Media and Breast Cancer Awareness: An Empirical Study in the Indian Context.” Her academic engagements span reputed institutions including IIMC Delhi, Hansraj College (Delhi University), Makhanlal Chaturvedi Patrakarita Vishwavidyalaya, and others. She has supervised nearly 100 MA dissertations and evaluated over 300 viva across premier media institutions.

Her professional career also includes journalistic contributions to Dainik Jagran and Samasyiki Mahasagar, and leadership in social development as Research Head at NGO Nav Jagriti, managing projects funded by UNDP, Plan International, and Save the Children.

Dr. Sinha has published extensively in high-impact journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed. She conducts research workshops for Ph.D. scholars and faculty on media research, qualitative and quantitative methods, and AI in research. She also serves as a reviewer for several academic journals and conferences.

A recipient of the International Women’s Excellence Award (2024) and International Youth Entrepreneurship Award (2021), she is affiliated with IAMCR, WICCI, and the International Association of Women Educators. She also serves on editorial and advisory boards of academic and social organizations.

Research Highlights

Dr. Nibha Sinha’s research spans a wide spectrum of socially relevant and interdisciplinary themes, with a significant focus on media, health communication, and empowerment. Her extensive work on breast cancer awareness and social media engagement has contributed to a deeper understanding of how digital platforms influence public health communication. She has conducted empirical studies analyzing the role of social media in disseminating breast cancer awareness among Indian women, particularly focusing on content trends, audience engagement, and the sociocultural factors influencing participation and reach.

Her research also delves into the intersection of media and sustainable development, exploring both traditional and digital platforms. She has examined the role of initiatives such as the Kisan Call Center and community radio in promoting agricultural knowledge and improving rural livelihoods, highlighting the power of media in development communication.

Another important dimension of her work is the investigation of women’s engagement with digital platforms, particularly among marginalized groups such as Dalit and Muslim women. Her studies reveal how social media serves as a tool for empowerment, self-expression, and access to information, contributing to broader discussions on digital inclusion and gender equity.

Dr. Sinha has also contributed to the evolving discourse on Artificial Intelligence in healthcare communication, assessing its application in medical awareness and outreach. Her interdisciplinary scholarship bridges media research, public health, education, and technology, positioning her as a thought leader in leveraging communication for inclusive and sustainable development. Through her work, she continues to shape academic and policy conversations at both national and international levels.
