Dr. Papia Chowdhury is Professor in the Department of Physics. She has done her M.Sc. from Department of Physics Jadavpur University and PhD Physics (Molecular Spectroscopy) from Indian Association for the Cultivation of Sciences, Kolkata. During her doctoral research period her research interest was on the outcome of photo dynamics of some industrially applicable organic bi-chronophers in different environments including some organized assemblies. After doctoral study she has started research collaboration with various research groups of India and abroad like Indian Association for the Cultivation of Sciences (IACS), Jawaharlal Nehru Centre Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore, BITS, Department of Physics, Department of Botany Guwahati University, Freie University, Berlin, Germany etc. She has also started collaboration with Industry like Hind High Vacuum Pvt. Ltd Bangalore and Bruker India Scientific Ltd, Kolkata etc.
At present she is working on Synthesis and characterization of different caped and uncapped Quantum dots (organic and inorganic based), Fluorescent Sensors, Opto Chemical Sensors in terms of their applicability for the detection of environmentally hazardous metal ions; Quantum dots as markers for medical imaging specially for cancer cells; Spectroscopy (UV-VIS, IR, Raman) of Charge Conduction in Nano Cavities and Nano-assemblies, Organic solar cells, OLED; Superionic Phase Transition, Molecular modelling, Molecular Dynamics Simulation forDrug Designing etc.
