
Prof. Anirban Pathak (FNASc) is a theoretical physicist. He did his Ph.D. from Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, India. Subsequently, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Freie University, Berlin. He joined JIIT, Noida, in 2002. At present, he is actively involved in teaching and research related to several aspects of quantum optics and quantum information. He is a fellow of The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), IETE and OSI. He was a visiting scientist at Palacky University, Czech Republic for a long period. He is also one of the editors of Quantum Information Processing, Springer-Nature and Quantum Review Letters. He guided 9 PhD students and a large number of Post-Doctoral Fellows. He leads a research group focused on quantum optics and quantum information with a specific interest in quantum cryptography and photonic quantum computing. He has completed several DST, MeitY, Indo-US collaboration initiatives and DRDO funded projects and at present, he has an ongoing project funded by the National Quantum Mission (NQM). He has active research collaborations with leading research groups in India and abroad. He is a recipient of 2017 Shri O. P. Bhasin Award in the field of Electronics and Information Technology. He has a strong interest in popularizing science, and he often writes popular science articles for newspapers and magazines in both English and Bengali. He has also played a pivotal role in popularizing the area of quantum information in India. Specifically, the textbook on quantum computing and quantum communication, authored by him, is extensively used by students.
